How to Play

Use every clue to connect matching endpoints with noncrossing paths covering every cell; the shipped board has exactly one checked solution.

W06 unique-solution gate: Numberlink has a dedicated path model and a two-solution cutoff.

Game Guide

Overview

Numberlink presents pairs of matching endpoints that must be joined by orthogonal paths. Paths cannot cross or share cells, each endpoint belongs to its own pair, and this edition requires every board square to be covered. A connection that looks short may strand an empty pocket or block another color. The puzzle is validated by path search with reachability pruning, and generation stops unless exactly one full-cover routing survives.

Controls

Focus an endpoint and press OK to begin its path. Move with the arrows to extend through an empty neighboring cell; moving backward erases the last segment. Reaching the matching endpoint seals that route, while selecting it again allows revision. Touch uses the same stepwise model to avoid imprecise diagonal drags. Reset restores all labeled endpoints and removes only the colored path cells.

Scoring and Progress

Each safely extended route increases coverage, and joining a pair awards a larger color bonus. A move into another path, a foreign endpoint, or a nonadjacent square is rejected. Progress includes occupied area and connected pairs, but the solved award requires one hundred percent coverage with no collisions. There is no timer, so players may unwind any route, and the best verified completion score persists locally.

Strategy Tips

Identify endpoints with few exits and reserve corridors before drawing flexible pairs. Board corners and one-cell bottlenecks cannot be revisited, so decide which color must pass through them. Do not connect an easy adjacent pair if its short route encloses unused squares. After every extension, check that each unfinished endpoint can still reach its mate and that all empty regions remain accessible from some open path tip.

Mobile Play

On mobile, one directional press extends exactly one orthogonal segment, giving control near crowded endpoints. Large controls stay below the board and meet the forty-four-pixel minimum in portrait and landscape. Debug mode grows the certified routes in alternating colors and resets when coverage finishes. render_game_to_text lists endpoint pairs, path coordinates, occupied and unreachable cells, active tip, collisions, coverage, score, and bounded solution count.
