Overview

Accordion Solitaire is the folding puzzle in the batch. Cards form a line, and the aim is to collapse that line by moving a card left onto another card of the same rank or suit, usually one or three positions away. The browser version represents the line through compact columns so it stays readable on mobile, but the mental shape remains accordion-like: compress, rescan, compress again. It feels different from stock solitaire because progress is not about drawing a better card. Progress comes from seeing how one fold changes every future distance.

Controls

Click a movable card, then choose the legal landing position to its left. Keyboard players can scan with Left and Right and confirm with Space or Enter, while mobile players can use the bottom arrows and OK button for the same discrete steps. The deal control is not the main action here; it exists only to keep the shared W04 control strip consistent. Restart when the line has no meaningful folds left. You do not need to drag cards across the screen, which keeps the puzzle usable on small touch displays.

Scoring and Progress

Each fold adds score, and folds that reveal another immediate fold keep momentum alive. A lower final pile count is effectively better, so the rating favors compact lines and steady reductions. Local best storage records your best compression score. Random legal folds are rarely equal: a same-rank fold near the center can create more new neighbors than a suit fold at the edge. The score nudges you toward moves that change the line structure instead of moves that merely remove a convenient top card.

Strategy Tips

Scan from left to right, but decide from the center outward. A fold near the middle changes both sides of the line and often creates new one-away or three-away matches. Do not spend every obvious suit match immediately; sometimes preserving it lets a rank match slide into range after another fold. When stuck, compare the third card to the left before the adjacent card, because three-away moves are easier to miss. Accordion rewards patience and spatial memory more than speed.

Mobile Play

The line can become dense after several folds. Use arrows when neighboring cards are close, confirm with OK, and rotate only when distance reading matters more than card size.
